NODA Report: Sleeping Beauty

Once again this year Honiton Pantomime Society were happy to welcome NODA representative Janet Elworthy to our annual Pantomime which this year was ‘Sleeping Beauty’. It was performed for the first time at The Beehive and built on the success of last year’s ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ a review for which can be found here.

We recently received the report from Janet and we’d like to thank her and the wider NODA team for their continued support.

As previous NODA award winners, it is to be hoped that the high standard usually achieved continues. No worries! This show confirmed the usual high level of production their audiences have grown to expect.

All the ingredients were there, ensuring optimum audience entertainment, colour, slickness, quality of costume and those little directorial touches unique to the society that can and did work really well.

Working at a newly built, potentially exciting venue, created a few ‘sound’ teething problems but these were worked around without too much detriment to performance.

Cast played with confidence and enthusiasm, showing an excellent understanding of their stage-craft, particularly with facial and body movement. With unobtrusive and balanced support, songs were sung enthusiastically, obviously chosen to be upbeat and enjoyable to perform. Interesting choreography which was well executed, added to the impact of the numbers.

Once again the society brought the local community together for an enjoyable evening of sparkling entertainment.

We will be mounting a second major production this year in the form of a musical version of ‘The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe‘ tickets can be purchased here.
