What do Trustees do?
The Honiton Community Trustees meet four times a year. They oversee the strategic planning of the charity and company.
This includes:
- Financial planning – looking after and submitting accounts to the charity commission, monitoring income and expenditure, authorising capital spending on equipment and storage facilities
- Strategic planning – planning for future shows and events, writing and reviewing the charity articles, governing documents and policies
- They hold key roles such as Chair, Secretary, Treasurer and Safeguarding Officer
- Communicating and responding to the membership, ensuring the stability and sustainability of the charity
- Trustees serve for a term of at least 4 years.

Susannah became involved with HCTC in 2019 when her son took part in his first HCTC performance. She has enjoyed getting involved with our friendly group since then and has lent a helping hand with costumes, front of house and as one of the chaperone team.
Susannah has recently stepped forward to become co treasurer and is an appointed trustee for HCTC
Rochelle has been involved with HCTC since 2018, when her daughter first took to the stage. Since then she has enjoyed being involved behind the scenes in various roles including as chaperone, painter and costumes. She has enjoyed her time in the group and now takes on a more formal role as trustee for HCTC.
Youth Liaison Officer – Willow Ryerson
Willow has been a member of HCTC since she was 10 years old and is grateful for all of the experiences she has had with them, in cast, crew and creative team roles. She wants to ensure that the younger members of the group have the same plentiful opportunities, and that they continue to have a strong role in the HCTC.
Youth Officer – Lucy Williams
- Co-ordination of chaperones, applications, training and rotas
- Ensuring performances are licenced in accordance with young people in entertainment regulations
- Aiding the trustee body in making strategic decisions
Lucy has loved theatre forever, particularly since joining the university drama society in the late 90s landed her both a husband, and her first job. No longer employed in drama, this is the next best thing. Lucy loves watching a show come to life, and in particular encouraging young people to take part, seeing their confidence flourish.
Licensing & Show Research – Tina Paveley
- Advising on new licensing opportunities for future shows
- Co-ordinate pitching events for future shows
- Aiding the trustee body in making strategic decisions
Tina was bitten by the theatrical bug at 13 and has been on and off stage ever since – appearing in shows in Lyme Regis, Seaton, Sidmouth & Honiton as well as many outlying Devon villages! Equally happy to be on stage or behind a piano in the pit her long standing love of West End Theatre neatly links with her role for the Trustees, researching new performance material. Originally with the Honiton Pantomime society in 2000 after a few years break she rejoined HCTC in 2016 and has been delighted to be part of this talented team ever since
IT support officer – Jaron Bonetta
- Making changes to the HCTC website
- Managing the trustee IT accounts
Jaron has been part of this company since he was 9 years old. That brings him to a total of 12 years of membership. His first show with the company was “Ali Baba and the Fourty Thieves”. His favourite role with the company was “Chad” in “High School Musical” in 2023.
Jaron has now become a member of the Trustees and organises the IT support for the company. Managing the Website and emails for everyone, making sure that the data and communications can run smoothly for the company.
