Local amateur theatre groups the Honiton Pantomime Society and the Honiton Players work together to produce Honiton’s first full scale musical production at The Beehive in Honiton. The joint group ‘The Honiton Community Theatre Company’ is putting on the family classic ‘The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe’ on the 31st July to 2nd August with both evening and matinee performances to suit all audiences. Tickets are just £8 for adults and £6.50 for children with a special group rate for 10 or more people of £6.25.
The two local groups decided to team up on this latest production to celebrate The Beehive being a valuable community asset in the town and to offer performance opportunities to more young people to experience being on stage. The production features both adult and junior members of the groups and is performed with a live band and modern staging at The Beehive which proves to be a flexible performance venue for the groups.
Director of the production Alex Jackson who is Honiton born and bred commented:
“I’m really excited to be bringing this new musical version of C S Lewis’ fantasy novel to the stage at The Beehive. This production has a real community aspect to it as we are being supported by many local people to bring you amazing costumes, set and musical as well as a very talented cast who have been rehearsing hard for the last 6 months to bring you this show”
