private-peaceful-posterPrivate Peaceful relives the life of Private Tommo Peaceful, a young First World War soldier looking back at his short but joyful past growing up in rural Devon: his exciting first days at school; the accident in the forest that killed his father; his adventures with Molly, the love of his life; and the battles and injustices of war that brought him to the front line.

Originally written as a one-man-show the play debuted at Theatre Royal Haymarket in London’s West End in 2012, where it enjoyed a successful London run before a critically acclaimed run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The novel which the play is based on was Winner of the Blue Peter Book of the Year and was written by award-winning author of War Horse; Michael Morpurgo.

Working with The Royal British Legion, Honiton Community Theatre Company return to The Beehive following critically acclaimed productions of ‘Twelfth Night’ and ‘Urinetown: The Musical’. Featuring Honiton Town Band, stunning stage effects and a joyful but poignant text, this November, we remember the young men from Devon who gave their lives for our freedom.

“The horrors of war and joyfulness of life are bound up together in this magnificent show” THE SCOTSMAN
